NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — George Mason’s Natalie Butler was named as the Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Davidson’s Katie Turner earned Rookie of the Week honors. The awards were for games played Dec. 18-24.

Butler scored 35 points on 13-of-16 shooting from the field and had 20 rebounds in a loss to Houston this past week. Turner helped lead Davidson to a 2-0 week by averaging 12 points and shooting 8-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. The freshman from Reno, Nev., also dished out seven assists, with five of them coming in a win at home vs. Charlotte. Turner recorded her second-highest scoring performance of the season with 17 points in the win against the 49ers.  She also hit the game-winning three-pointer to give Davidson a 68-66 lead with 37 seconds left on the clock.
