AMHERST, Mass. – After securing its ninth consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship title, the UMass women's lacrosse team (16-3) will take on a familiar opponent in Colorado in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The game will be hosted by Penn in Philadelphia on Friday, May 12.
The winner of the first round game will go on to play the winner of Penn/Navy in the second round.
Massachusetts and Colorado met at the beginning of the season with Colorado picking up an 11-7 win over the Minutewomen on Feb. 17 in DeLand, Fla. The Buffalos had one of their best seasons since starting a Division I program with a 16-3 record this year.
This marks the 12th trip to the NCAA Tournament for UMass including its ninth consecutive. The Minutewomen claimed the 1982 National Championships – the first-ever women's lacrosse national championship sponsored by the NCAA.
2017 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship:
The University of Massachusetts and Gillette Stadium will host the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship weekend on Friday, May 26 and Sunday, May 28.
