PHILADELPHIA – La Salle Athletics is proud to announce that McCarthy Stadium, home to the Explorer men's soccer, women's soccer and women's lacrosse programs, has been resurfaced with SPRINTURF. One of the market leaders in artificial athletic surfaces, SPRINTURF has more than 1,400 turf installations in professional and collegiate facilities throughout North America and abroad.

"La Salle University is committed to our student-athletes," Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw said. "We are very pleased to be partnering with SPRINTURF and I know our soccer and lacrosse teams are excited to practice and compete on one of the top artificial surfaces in the country."

SPRINTURF's DFE Extreme product uses an Ultrablade slit fiber system that features a proprietary Exxon metallacene resin and a state-of-the-art C8 monofilament resin. This combination nearly eliminates infill flyout – a common complaint amongst athletes, coaches and parents.

The 120 micron plus fiber used with the surface provides unmatched durability. Tensile strengths average 40 percent higher than comparable Tencate XP fibers, and Ultrablade routinely passes 100,000 plus cycles on Lisport accelerated testing. This sturdiness will allow McCarthy Stadium's field to hold up through the winter months of the Northeast region. Similar surfaces have been installed at UPenn's Franklin Field and at the University of Pittsburgh.

The new-look McCarthy Stadium will debut on Friday, August 18, when the women's soccer team hosts St. John's for its season opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
