EUGENE, ORE. -- Junior Katie Clark closed out Butler's 2012-13 sports year in the women's 5,000 meter run at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Friday, June 7. Her final race was one of two appearances for the Butler All-American at this year's national meet, hosted by the University of Oregon.
Clark, a two-time track champion in the Atlantic 10 Conference, wound up placing 23rd in the 5,000 with a time of 16:45.92. The final race came two days after she placed 22nd in the women's 10,000 meter run with a time of 35:31.07. Clark was Butler's only athlete to advance to the national championship at Hayward Field.
The final event wrapped up a stellar year for Clark and for the Bulldogs. Last fall, she captured the individual title and led Butler to its first A-10 championship at the conference cross country meet. She went on to earn All-America honors with a 22nd place finish at the NCAA National Championship.
This spring, Clark won individual crowns in both the 1,500 and the 5,000 at the A-10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship. She set Butler records in both the 5,000 and the 10,000 and advanced to the national meet in both events.
