Juliana Libertin Profile

Renee Washington Profile

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Dayton's Juliana Libertin and La Salle's Renee Washington have been named Top 30 Finalists for the Senior Class Award. Both women's soccer standouts received 2012 All-Conference First Team and All-Academic honors.

Libertin is the fifth UD women’s soccer player to be named to the Senior CLASS Top 30 since the award was started in 2007. Juliana is a 2-time selection to NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team and was a 2012 All-Atlantic 10 First Team selection after dishing out 11 assists (.55 apg was 12th in NCAA). Libertin has been part of a Dayton squad that has won two A-10 Championships and her 27 career assists rank third all-time in school history.

Libertin is the founder of Kicks For Kids Fundraiser, which raises awareness and funds for equipment for the UD Adapted Physical Activity Program, which benefits children in the Dayton area who have exceptionalities such as Autism, Blind and Low Vision, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Developmental Disability (DD), Learning Disabilities (LD), and Physical Disability.

Washington enters her senior season with a full trophy shelf, including NSCAA All-America, First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, and All-Region recognition during her career. Entering the 2013 season Washington is among the leaders in several all-time categories at La Salle including third in goals, fourth in points and eighth in assists, and has thrice been recognized as an Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team member.

In November, Washington founded the non-profit organization Make Your Mark (mYm) that works in conjunction with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America to raise money for Crohn's disease research.  Inspired by her younger brother Mark who suffers from the disease, Washington raised roughly $3,500 in the first six months following Make Your Mark's inception.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2013 NCAA Women’s College Cup® championship in December.

The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select the candidate who best exemplify excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
