NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Saint Joseph’s Mo Hawkins and Emily Gingrich have been named Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Tuesday, for games played Aug. 29 - Sept. 2.

With just under five seconds remaining in regulation, Hawkins scored her first goal of the season against Quinnipiac to complete a 3-2 comeback for Saint Joseph’s.  Friday’s goal against the Bobcats was the eighth career game-winner for two-time A-10 Midfielder of the Year, Hawkins. Hawkins 26 career goals and 63 points rank third all-time for Saint Joseph’s.

Trailing 2-0 entering the second half, Gingrich drilled a penalty kick to the bottom right corner of the net for her first collegiate goal, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Less than a minute later, the Shillington, Pa., native, tied the game 2-2 with a shot inside the left post, swinging the momentum towards the Hawks. In the first four games of the season, the freshman has put up 19 shots to lead Saint Joseph’s to a 2-0-2 record.
