NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –Renee Washington of La Salle and Danielle Kriscenski of Massachusetts have been named Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office announced Monday, for games played Sept. 2 - Sept. 8.

Washington, a senior, scored a goal in each of the Explorers’ wins this weekend, moving her into second place in school history with 34 career goals, just six goals away from tying the all-time record set by Amy Schneider (40). Against American, Washington tallied seven shots, including three on goal, scoring in the 27th minute to give La Salle a 2-0 lead off a ball from teammate Maryam Huseini. After being held scoreless in the first half against Marshall, Washington scored the game-tying goal just ten minutes into the second period, again off a cross from Huseini. The Explorers improved to 4-1 on the season and will travel to Villanova, before hosting Loyola (Md.) this weekend.

Kriscenski, a red-shirt freshman, allowed just one goal in 200 minutes the net en route to a 1-0-1 week for Massachusetts. The Bristol, Conn., native made a season-high eight saves and faced 18 shots in a 1-1 overtime battle against Big East foe Providence. Against New Hampshire, Kriscenski picked up her first collegiate shutout, recording five saves in UMass’ first win of the season. Kriscenski logged a 0.45 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage last week. Massachusetts travels to Texas for two matches, facing No. 24 Aggies on Friday and Lamar on Sunday.
