NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—VCU sophomore Romana Kriskova and Duquesne senior Allison Foschia were named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. SLU freshman Mallory Dillon also was named the league’s Rookie of the Week. The three awards were announced Monday for matches played Sept. 2-8.

A native of Bratislava, Slovakia, Kriskova averaged 5.00 kills and hit .345 in a 2-1 week for the Rams. She tallied 21 kills, hitting an astounding .833, the highest in the league this season, in a win over Liberty. She had a 17-kill, 11-dig double-double in a five-set loss to No. 21 Kentucky, and then finished her week with a dominating performance in a win over East Tennessee State. The outside/right side hitter recorded 27 kills and hit .541 while also digging up 10 ETSU attacks for her second double-double in as many matches. Her 27 kills against ETSU were the most by a Ram since 2007 and the most in the A-10 this season. Kriskova also averaged 1.92 digs and served up eight aces.

Foschia was a defensive stalwart, tallying 3.46 digs per set and 1.08 blocks per set to help Duquesne to a perfect 3-0 week. The Northfield Center, Ohio, native had 13 digs and four blocks in a win over Central Michigan. She followed that with a career-high eight blocks against Xavier, including four solo blocks while recording her second-straight 13-dig match. She finished the week with a match-high19 digs, her best effort of the week and two blocks at Robert Morris.  The outside hitter also had three matches of double-digit kills to record double-doubles in every match last week.

Dillon led the Billikens to a 2-1 week with double-digit kills in each match to average 4.44 kills per set in Morehead State’s Comfort Inn Invitational, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. The St. Charles, Mo., native scored 11 kills against the host Eagles, and then tallied 14 kills while hitting .306 in a win over Montana State. Her best match of the week came in SLU’s only loss, a 15-kill, 10-dig double-double against IUPUI. For the week she hit .269 and averaged 3.0 digs per set.
