NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Dayton forward Ashley Campbell has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Duquesne midfielder, Maddie Layman has earned Rookie of the Week. The student-athletes are recognized for games Sept. 23-29.

In Dayton’s first conference matchup and only game of the week against Richmond, Campbell recorded her first collegiate hat trick, registering a career-high and A-10 single game high six points in the game. The Bradford, Ontario, native scored three consecutive goals in the 8th, 33rd and 49th minutes in the 4-0 victory over the Spiders. The sophomore leads the league in goals scored (11) and points (24) and shots (46). Dayton improved to 6-4-1 overall (1-0 A-10) and continues their conference slate on Friday, Oct. 5 when they host A-10 newcomer, George Mason.

Layman, a Wexford, Pa. product, tallied her first two collegiate goals, including the game-winner in a 3-0 win over NJIT. The rookie ranks second for Duquesne with four points and has started three games, including Duquesne’s 3-1 win against Robert Morris. With two wins last week, the Dukes improved to 4-4-1 and will open their conference schedule hosting St. Bonaventure on Friday, Oct. 5.
