The Atlantic 10 Conference held its annual Men's Basketball Media Day last week, drawing big crowds for both the media sessions and the luncheon, which was hosted by CBS Sports Network's Jon Rothstein.
Each A-10 men's basketball coach was in attendance, providing several interviews to national, local and New York media. Each coach also had breakout sessions with ESPN, CBS Sports and other entities such as Campus Insiders.
In addition, the league featured a live component for the first time. College Chalktalk's Chris DiSano, interview each coach and A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. The live element also featured social media integration, allowing fans to ask the coaches questions through Facebook and Twitter. The archives of those interviews are available on the A-10 Digital Network.
Media day also resulted in a number of stories about the Atlantic 10. CBSSports.com's Matt Norlander writes about the reasons for the league's strength and the New York Times explores the "hipness" of the A-10 Championship in Brooklyn. The Associated Press covers the preseason picks and the Philadelphia Inquirer reported on expectations for La Salle following the Explorers' magical Sweet 16 season.
There were also a number of stories on VCU being picked first and the ascendance of Rhode Island.
Finally, social media was buzzing throughout media day, as the preseason poll and All-Conference teams were released and the A-10 Live interview sessions were happening. TO get a recap of the day from a social media perspective, check out the Storify from Tuesday.
