NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Atlantic 10 Conference has furthered its partnership with NBCSN to extend the 24-hour national sports network’s production and coverage of 2014 Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship to the four First Round games.
This new agreement places two of the first round games on NBCSN (games 2 and 3) and two other games (1 and 4) on select NBC Sports Regional Networks. This expands on NBCSN’s existing coverage of Friday’s championship quarterfinals. NBCSN also will carry four First Round games on March 13 and will also show the six games digitally on computers, tablets and mobile devices as part of their NBC Sports LiveExtra coverage.
The agreement also provides for national television coverage for 12 of the 13 games. CBS Sports Network will air the semifinals on March 15 and CBS Sports, as part of the network’s Selection Sunday coverage, will carry the championship final on March 16.
The Atlantic 10 is currently rated sixth in the RPI with six of its 13 teams ranked in the top 50 and nine teams in the top 100. One of the deepest leagues in Division I, seven different teams have been ranked or received votes in national polls and the A-10 won 71 percent of its non-conference games. This will mark the second year the championship will be played at Barclays Center, following an overwhelmingly successful inaugural championship in the Brooklyn venue.
