NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has recognized nine tennis squads from the Atlantic 10 as All-Academic Team selections. Additionally, 37 men and 40 women were named as individual Scholar-Athletes.

From the men's side, Charlotte, George Washington, Saint Joseph's University and Virginia Commonwealth University earned All-Academic Team Selections. The women's programs recognized were Charlotte, George Washington, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's University and Saint Louis University.

In one academic year, the Atlantic 10 almost doubled its number of individual Scholar-Athletes and earned two more All-Academic Team selections.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2011 and spring 2012) for the team to be included.
