Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Andres Cuero - Charlotte
Sophomore, Forward, Austin, Texas/Westlake HS

Cueros led all A-10 players with eight points on the week after scoring three goals, including a game-winner, and adding two assists...was named to the Davidson/Adidas Classic All-Tournament team after leading the team to the title with a 5-1 win over Davidson on Aug. 29 and a 5-3 win over College of Charleston on Aug. 31...notched two goals, including the game-winnner, and an assist versus Charleston and added a goal and an assist at Davidson.

Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Yoni Berhanu - George Washington
Freshman, Forward, Potomac, Md./Sidwell Friends School

Berhanu earned All-Tournament team honors of the DC College Cup after totaling five points in GW's 1-0-1 weekend...Berhanu assisted on the game-tying goal in GW's 1-1 draw against George Mason on Aug. 29...then scored a pair of second half goals in an 8-0 romp over Howard on Aug. 31...second consecutive DC College Cup win for GW.

Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Whitney Weinraub - Charlotte
Sophomore, Forward, Holland, Pa./Council Rock South HS

Weinraub notched her first career hat trick on Aug. 31 as Charlotte turned aside Tennessee Tech, 8-0...marked the first Charlotte hat trick since the 2002 season...added an assist in the 49ers' 3-2 win over UNC Wilmington on Aug. 25...shares the team lead in goals (three) and points (seven).

Women's Soccer Rookies of the Week
Jonna Handra - Charlotte
Freshman, Forward, Port Vue, Pa./South Allegheny HS

Handra tallied a pair of goals, including the game-winner, as Charlotte edged UNC Wilmington on Aug. 25, 3-2...amassed five shots in the match...marked the first two goals of her career.

Shannon Van Riper - St. Bonaventure
Freshman, Forward, Groton, Mass./Groton-Dunstable Regional HS

Van Riper scored a pair of goals in the second half, including the game-winner, as St. Bonaventure earned a 4-1 win over Cleveland State on Aug. 29...added an assist in the Bonnies' 2-1 loss to Quinnipiac on Aug. 31.

Field Hockey Player of the Week
Charise Young - Temple
Junior, Midfielder, Harleysville, Pa./Christopher Dock HS

Young led Temple to a pair of victories over the weekend, scoring five total goals against Lehigh on Aug. 30 and Bryant on Aug. 31...notched a hat trick against Lehigh, the first of her career...her five goals this season nearly equals her season total of six in 2007.

Field Hockey Rookies of the Week
Katelin Peterson - Richmond
Freshman, Forward, Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS

Peterson scored a goal in each of her first two collegiate games, the first coming in an 8-3 Richmond victory against Ball State on Aug. 30...recorded her second goal in as many games with the only Spiders score in a 6-1 loss at Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 31...connected for goals on two of her three shots.

Kelly Swanick - Saint Joseph's
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Malvern, Pa./Villa Maria Academy

Swanick recorded a shutout victory in her first collegiate game, making two saves as the Hawks blanked Bryant, 6-0, on Aug. 29...made eight saves in a 3-1 loss to Indiana on Aug. 31.

Volleyball Player of the Week
Hillary Otte - Xavier
Junior, Rightside Hitter, Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry District HS

Otte earned MVP honors at the Ohio State Sports Imports Classic over the weekend after finishing with 51 kills and a team-best .469 hitting percentage...also added 23 digs, seven assists and eight blocks...averaged 4.25 kills per game and posted 15 or more kills in all three matches...had a .615 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Youngstown State on Aug. 29...posted a double-double of 19 kills and 10 digs along with five blocks in a 3-1 win over Toledo on Aug. 30.

Volleyball Rookies of the Week
Tricia Mullen - Duquesne
Freshman, Outside Hitter, Botkins, Ohio/Botkins HS

Mullen was named to the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational All-Tournament team after helping the Dukes to a 4-0 start on the season...posted a team-high 50 digs in 14 sets for 3.57 digs per game...added 30 kills, nine aces and three assists on the weekend...had 14 kills in a 3-2 win over Marist on Aug. 29, her collegiate debut.

Alyssa Valentine - George Washington
Freshman, Setter, Tustin, Calif./Edison HS

Valentine started all 12 sets for GW at the setter position and was the lone representative chosen to the DC Challenge All-Tournament team after leading the Colonials to a 2-1 record...averaged 9.16 assists per set with a team-high 110 on the weekend...added four kills, six blocks and 24 digs for 2.00 digs per game.

Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week
Diana Filtz - Richmond
Sophomore, Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford HS

Filtz placed first at the Spider Alumni Open on Aug. 30 with a time of 11:15 on the two-mile course...marked the sixth-fastest time in meet annals...top runner out of 30 competitors...led Richmond to a 15-50 win over Virginia Commonwealth.

Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Hannah Ringo - Duquesne
Freshman, Solon, Ohio/Solon HS

Competing at the Duquesne Duals on Aug. 30 in her collegiate debut, Ringo finished third in a field of 87 runners with time of 18:46 on the 5K course...the Dukes posted a mark of 7-0 on the afternoon.

Men's Cross Country Performers of the Week
Andrew Benford - Richmond
Junior, Ravenswood, W. Va./Ravenswood HS

Competing at the Spider Alumni Open on Aug. 30, Benford placed first out of 60 competitors with a time of 15:03.2 on the 5K course...eclipsed the previous meet-record time of 15:06.8, set in 2004...Richmond finished first in the three-team field.

Josh Eddy - Duquesne
Senior, Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills HS

Eddy was the first runner to cross the finish line at the Duquesne Duals on Aug. 30 with a time of 25:45 on the five-mile course...field consisted of 103 runners...the Dukes posted a mark of 7-0 on the afternoon.

Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Levi Grandt - Richmond
Freshman, West Union, W. Va./Doddridge County HS

In his first collegiate race, Grandt placed sixth overall at the Spider Alumni Open on Aug. 30 with a time of 15:38.90...marked the fastest-ever time by a freshman at the meet...UR finished first in the three-team field.
