Men's Soccer Players of the Week
Kyle Patterson - Saint Louis
Senior, Midfielder, Birmingham, England/Plantsbrook Secondary School
Patterson led all A-10 players with six points on the week after notching a natural hat trick in the final ten minutes versus Xavier on Oct. 17 to deliver a 3-0 win in Conference play...the goals, which bring his season total to a team-leading nine, helped salvage the victory after the two teams played 80 minutes of scoreless soccer...it was his second natural hat trick of his career and second Player of the Week honor this season.
Andy Stadler - George Washington
Junior, Forward, Wauwatosa, Wis./Wauwatosa West HS
Stadler continued his torrid scoring pace with five points in GW's 5-2 rout of Temple on Oct. 17...he opened the scoring in the third minute, added the game-winning goal in the 16th minute and assisted on the Colonials' fourth goal...tied for the league leader in points with 26...paces the A-10 with 12 goals and five game-winning goals...second Player of the Week honor.
Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Tyler Picard - Dayton
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Denver, Colo./Regis Jesuit HS
Picard posted back-to-back shutouts over nationally-ranked Charlotte on Oct. 17 and Saint Louis on Oct. 19...finished with 11 saves on the weekend and moved to 7-0-1 overall...made a career-high eight saves in 110 minutes of scoreless action against Charlotte, the league leaders in goals scored...posted three saves in a 1-0 shutout win over No. 15 Saint Louis...second Rookie of the Week honor.
Women's Soccer Players of the Week
Hailey Beam - Charlotte
Junior, Midfielder, Cornelius, N.C./Texas Tech University HS
Beam scored a pair of goals, including her second game-winner of the season, as Charlotte edged Richmond on Oct. 17, 3-2...had a pair of assists on Oct. 19 in the 49ers' 3-0 win over George Washington...named the A-10 Player of the Week for the third time this season...her league-leading 13 goals are the third-highest single-season total in program history.
Lauren MacCormick - Dayton
Junior, Forward, Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas HS
MacCormick tallied her first goal of the season in Dayton's 4-0 victory over St. Bonaventure on Oct. 17 and scored twice on Oct. 19 as the Flyers earned a 4-1 win versus Duquesne...registered the game-winner versus Duquesne.
Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
Hannah Perry - Saint Louis
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North HS
Perry garners her second A-10 Rookie of the Week award after recording a pair of shutout victories at George Washington (2-0) and Richmond (1-0)...made three saves versus UR on Oct. 19 to raise her season total to 60, the second-highest total by a freshman in program annals...has amassed eight shutouts on the season.
Field Hockey Player of the Week
Megan Thompson - Richmond
Junior, Forward, Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley HS
Thompson had five goals in three games on the week, including the game-winning goals in all three contests...tallied game-tying goals in come-from-behind victories over VCU on Oct. 15 and Saint Joseph's on Oct. 17...had a goal and an assist in the Spiders' 3-2 win over Temple on Oct. 19...Thompson leads the Spiders with eight goals and 24 points...has 21 career goals, which breaks her into the school's all-time top-10 list for goals...now 12th in career points at Richmond with 48.
Field Hockey Rookie of the Week
Alesha Widdall - Massachusetts
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Whitney Point, N.Y./Whitney Point HS
Widdall led the No. 17 Minutewomen to a pair of wins over the weekend, both coming on the road against La Salle on Oct. 17 and West Chester on Oct. 19...posted six saves to lead UMass to a 2-0 win at La Salle...the shutout was the freshman's fourth of the season...with a 4-1 victory at West Chester, Widdall finished with a .875 save percentage in the wins...she is now 9-3 on the season with an A-10-best 1.13 goals against average and .772 save percentage.
Volleyball Player of the Week
Kelly Ruth - Xavier
Senior, Outside Hitter, Elyria, Ohio/Elyria HS
Ruth led Xavier to a 2-1 week with two Conference wins on the weekend...averaged 4.77 kills, 3.92 digs, 0.69 blocks and 5.31 points per set...finished with 62 kills, 51 digs, nine blocks and five assists....recorded three double-doubles in the three matches...started with a career-high 27 kills in a 3-1 loss to IPFW on Oct. 14...added 12 digs...registered a match-high 22 kills and a career-high tying 24 digs in a five-set win over Fordham on Oct. 17...tallied 15 kills, 13 digs and four blocks in a win over Rhode Island on Oct. 19...second Player of the Week honor.
Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Alyssa Valentine - George Washington
Freshman, Setter, Tustin, Calif./Edison HS
Valentine averaged 11.0 assists per set in a 3-0 week for George Washington...added 19 digs on the week...had 34 assists in a 3-0 sweep over La Salle on Oct. 18...posted a career-high 50 assists in a 3-2 win over East Division rival Temple on Oct. 17...the win over Temple was GW's first at TU in 13 years...added 37 assists in a 3-0 win over Loyola (Md.) on Oct. 14...third Rookie of the Week honor.
Golf Performer and Rookie of the Week
Brad Miller - Richmond
Freshman, Timonium, Md./Gilman HS
Playing in his first individual collegiate tournament, Miller tied the school record for a three-round tournament and won the Frank Landry Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., on Oct. 13-14...Miller carded a 6-under-par 210 (70-71-6) to capture the individual medalist honor.
Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week
Nicol Traynor - Richmond
Sophomore, Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge HS
Competing at the Penn State National Open on Oct. 17, Traynor placed 12th overall with a time of 21:02 on the 6K course...field consisted of 300 runners...earns her third A-10 Performer of the Week award of the season...Richmond finished seventh out of 28 teams.
Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Katie Spratford - Richmond
Freshman, Califon, N.J./Voorhees HS
Spratford finished ninth among freshmen and 45th overall at the Penn State National Open with a time of 21:44 on Oct. 17...the race consisted of 300 competitors...Richmond placed seventh in a field of 28 teams.
Men's Cross Country Performers of the Week
Adu Dentamo - Charlotte
Junior, Charlotte, N.C./Vance HS
Competing at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 18, Dentamo led Charlotte with a time of 24:07 on the 8K course...placed 25th in a field of 276 runners...named the A-10 Performer of the Week for the second time this season...the 49ers finished 29th out of 41 teams.
Korey Edwards - La Salle
Senior, Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills HS
Edwards finished eighth overall out of 306 competitors at the Penn State National Open on Oct. 17 with a time of 25:27 on the 5.2-mile course...was 17 seconds behind the individual champion...La Salle placed sixth in the 28-team field.
Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
Kevin McDonnell - Saint Joseph's
Freshman, Moorestown, N.J./Camden Catholic HS
McDonnell earns his third A-10 Rookie of the Week honor after registering a season-best time of 24:55.5 at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 18...placed 28th in field of 195 runners...SJU finished second out of 13 teams.
