Ed Pasque is in his fifth year at the A10 and currently serves as Senior Associate Commissioner for Governance and External Affairs. Pasque, who is a member of the State Bars of Virginia and Wisconsin, is also in-house legal counsel for the league. As in-house legal counsel, Pasque provides analysis and guidance on the legal and regulatory aspects of the A-10's business affairs. He is responsible for drafting, negotiating and reviewing contracts on a wide array of business issues, including the conference's television contracts with ESPN, CBS and NBC. He recently assisted with negotiating and structuring the multi-million dollar deal to take the Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn beginning in March of 2013. Pasque's responsibilities include oversight and policy implementation in the areas of NCAA Governance and Compliance. He works directly with A10 member institutions on issues related to the NCAA and provides advice and counsel on achieving organizational objectives within the constraints of the NCAA regulatory structure. Pasque also oversees the external affairs of the conference. He manages the conference's licensing and merchandise program and works directly with the conference's multimedia rights holders to maximize the value and exposure of the conference's sponsorship and marketing rights. From 2009-11, Pasque was the primary men's basketball administrator for the league and was the main contact for conference member athletic directors, basketball coaches and game officials. He also drafted the conference's men's basketball schedule while working in coordination with ESPN and CBS to maximize national television exposure opportunities for the league. Pasque has engaged in extensive committee work both on the national and conference level. He recently completed a four-year stint on the NCAA Division I Legislative Council, which serves as the primary legislative authority of the NCAA Division I governance structure, and in April of 2012 was appointed to a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Administration Cabinet. In the A10, Pasque currently serves on the Media Negotiation Subcommittee and the Membership Subcommittee, both of which are Presidential-led committees, as well as the Strategic Initiatives Revenue Resource Subcommittee. He previously served on A10 committees that implemented policies in the areas of men's basketball scheduling and men's basketball championship site selections. Pasque joined the Atlantic 10 in 2008 after two and a half years at Northern Illinois University, where he served as Senior Associate Athletic Director. Prior to joining the Northern Illinois staff, Pasque spent three years as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Academic Services at Campbell University. He also worked for Carr Sports Associates as an intercollegiate athletics consultant from 2004-08, providing expertise in the areas of NCAA legislation and membership requirements. Pasque earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2001. He was an attorney with Foley and Lardner in Madison, Wisconsin until 2002, when he was named assistant NCAA compliance officer at the University of West Florida. A 1992 graduate of Eckerd College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, Pasque was a member of the men's basketball team, where he set the school record for career 3-point field goal percentage. Upon graduation, he embarked on a four-year stint in the United States Navy as a Communications Supervisor for Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Eleven. Pasque was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal for exemplary military service. In addition to his roles in college athletics, Pasque has worked as an adjunct professor at the University of West Florida, Campbell University and Northern Illinois University, where he has taught sports law, sports finance, sports marketing and athletics administration courses. A native of Hazel Park, Michigan, Pasque and his wife, Stacey, are the parents of daughters Ruby (11) and Hazel (7) and son Oliver (9). |
