Charlotte Selected To Capture 2010 A-10 Indoor Track & Field Titles

12/11/2009 - Charlotte has been selected to defend its Atlantic 10 men's and women's indoor track & field crowns in voting conducted by the league's head coaches. The 49ers' women's team claimed their fourth consecutive title last season as they held off runner-up Dayton, 175-139. Charlotte is led by junior Amanda Goetschius, the defending A-10 champion in the mile (4:53.36) and bronze medalist in the 3,000m (9:58.90), and 2009 400m dash champion Kortnie Coleman (56.31).

Hausherr ran a 14:45.81 in the 5,000m at Yale's Geigengack Invite...hit the IC4A qualifying time and placed first out of a dozen runners.

Women's Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week
Shayna Daugherty - Rhode Island

Daugherty placed second in the high jump with her ECAC-qualifying leap of 5-8 1/2...also posted a personal-best time of 9.07 in the 60m hurdles.

Women's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week
Michelle Jenssen - Massachusetts
Freshman, Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield HS

Jenssen qualified for the New England Championships in the 400m at the Giegengack Invitational with a time of 58.72...also helped the distance medley relay squad take second and set a UMass school record with a time of 11:49.37...the relay squad improved upon its ECAC qualifying time from a week ago...she also ran on the 4x400m relay team that took third place at the meet (3:57.91).
