Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards Announced

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Fordham's Sean Atkinson was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week, while teammate Titi Fagade was named Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week. VCU's Kyle Martin and Briana Ratchford received Men's and Women's Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, as announced by the league office Monday for meets competed Dec. 10-Jan. 6.

Atkinson, a senior, earned Men's Performer of the Week after competition in the 200 and 500 meter races this past weekend at the Rutgers Invitational. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native finished first in the 500m with a time of 1:03.55, running an IC4A qualifying standard, while taking fifth in the 200m race with a time of 22.48 seconds.

Fagade, a junior, earned Women's Performer of the Week accolades after taking first place in the 500m with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:14.38 this past weekend at the Rutgers Invitational. The Rutland, Mass., native was also a member of the 4x400 relay race which finished fourth overall.

Martin earned Men's Rookie of the Week accolades after competing in his first collegiate meet this past weekend at the Father Diamond Invitational hosted by George Mason. The Bowie, Md., native finished second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.33 seconds.

Ratchford garnered Women's Rookie of the Week honors after competing in the shot put event at the Father Diamond Invitational. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native threw 11.9m, taking third place in her first collegiate meet.
