NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Andrew Reigstad of Rhode Island was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Performer of the Week, while T’Sheila Mungo of Charlotte received Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Performer of the Week. Benjamin Ezike of Rhode Island and Alvonna Blakney of Charlotte were named Men’s and Women’s Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office Tuesday for meets competed Jan. 14-20.

Reigstad, a redshirt senior, received Men’s Performer of the Week after an impressive performance at the University of Rhode Island Heptathlon Qualifier. The Greenville, R.I., native finished first in five of his seven events, taking home the overall first place victory in the heptathlon competition. Reigstad finished with a total of 5,388, which ranks first in the Atlantic 10 and fifth nationally.

Mungo, a sophomore, earned Women’s Performer of the Week honors after competition at the Virginia Tech Invitational this past weekend. The Charlotte, N.C., native finished first out of 27 competitors in the 400m with a time of 54.97 seconds and second out of 23 competitors in the 500m with a time of 1:11.03, breaking the 49ers school record in the 500m at Rector Field House.

Ezike was named Men’s Rookie of the Week after competing at the Sorlein Invitational this past weekend. The Staten Island, N.Y., native finished second in both the long jump (6.65m) and triple jump (14.25m) events.

Blakney garnered Women’s Rookie of the Week after competing in the 60m hurdles this past weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitatonal. The Charlotte, N.C., native finished fourth with a time of 8.70 seconds, an ECAC qualifying standard.
