Danielle Schopf - La Salle
Senior, Glenolden, PA/Cardinal O'Hara HS

Schopf finished second in a field of 30 runners in the 3,000m at the Giegengack Invitational at Yale (Feb. 2-3) with a time of 9:45.34...qualified for the ECAC Championships...is the fastest time on the A-10 this season.

Women's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week
Amy Van Alstine - Richmond
Freshman, Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park HS

Van Alstine earns her second A-10 Rookie of the Week award in as many weeks after finishing ninth in the 3,000m at the New Balance Indoor Games in New York on Feb. 3 with a time of 9:54.24...marks the fastest time by a freshman in program history.

Men's Indoor Track & Field Performers of the Week
William Rhea - La Salle
Junior, Rockville, MD/Good Counsel HS

Rhea set school and meet records at the Giegengack Invitational at Yale (Feb. 2-3) in the 500m run with a winning time of 1:03.03... qualified for the IC4A Championships...also ran a leg of the 4x400m relay that posted an IC4A qualifying time of 3:17.92 and cleared 6-1 1/4 in the high jump.

Bobby Staten - Saint Joseph's
Junior, Pittsburgh, PA/Bethel Park HS

Competing at the Giegengack Invitational at Yale on Feb. 2-3, Staten set a school record in the 60m dash with a winning time of 6.84...qualified for the IC4A Championships...added a seventh-place finish in the 200m dash (22.33)...named the A-10 Performer of the Week for the second time this season.

Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week
Korey Edwards - La Salle
Freshman, Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills HS

Edwards recorded times of 1:57.68 in the 800m and 4:16.26 in the mile on Feb. 2-3 at the Giegengack Invitational at Yale...finished 15th out of 43 competitors in the 800m and 10th out of 39 runners in the mile.

Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week
Caitlin Geary - Richmond
Senior, Andover, MA/Andover HS

Geary shattered the school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:05.65 on Jan. 31 versus Virginia...placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:00.38) and third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.32)...Richmond dropped a 123-110 decision to No. 20 Virginia.

Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week
Caitlin Napoli - Fordham
Freshman, Hauppauge, NY/St. Anthony's HS

In Fordham's 170-128 win over Massachusetts on Feb. 3, Napoli won three individual events and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:49.62)...placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.06), 100-yard butterfly (58.70) and 200-yard butterfly (2:05.13) events.

Men's Swimming & Diving Performers of the Week Grant Chin - La Salle
Junior, La Canada, CA/La Canada HS

Chin earned his first victory of the season in the 1,000-yard freestyle on Feb. 3 versus Lehigh, posting a winning time of 9:50.66...also placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.81) and 200-yard individual medley (1:55.01)...La Salle earned a 155-145 victory.

David Zenk - George Washington
Sophomore, St. Louis, MO/St Louis Country Day School

Zenk placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.62) and 100-yard backstroke (51.15) events on Feb. 3 in George Washington's 166-86 loss at Army...added a second-place showing in the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.81).

Men's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week
Ryan Coombs - Fordham
Freshman, Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy

Coombs captured gold in the 100-yard freestyle (47.81) and 200-yard freestyle (1:43.93) events on Feb. 3 in Fordham's 192.5-104.5 loss to Massachusetts...also a member of the 200-yard medley relay which finished third (1:37.38).

Baseball Player of the Week
Aaron Bray - Charlotte
Sophomore, 3B, 6-0, 163 lbs., Charlotte, NC/Independence HS

Bray's sacrifice fly in the tenth inning on Feb. 3 proved to be the difference as Charlotte opened its 2007 season with a 2-0 win over High Point in 10 innings...went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the 49ers' 7-6 loss to High Point on Feb. 4...earned A-10 Rookie of the Year honors in 2006.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Kyle Pfirrman - Charlotte
Sophomore, RHP, 6-2, 192 lbs., Hamilton, OH/Badin HS

Pfirrman tossed four innings of scoreless relief to earn the win in Charlotte's 2-0 victory in 10 innings over High Point on Feb. 3...allowed just two hits and walked one while striking out one.

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Roy Sichel - Charlotte
Junior, Ramat Hisharon, Israel/Rotheberg School

Earns his second Player of the Week award in as many weeks...in Charlotte's lone match, Sichel earned a 6-3, 6-4 first singles victory over North Carolina's Benjamin Carlotti, the No. 25 ranked sngles player in the nation, on Feb. 3...lost an 8-4 first doubles decision that day as well.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Pavlos Stephanides - Temple
Freshman, Nea Makri, Greece/Bellport (NY) HS

Picked up a pair of singles wins and one doubles win this past week...won at fourth singles versus St. Francis (NY) (6-0, 6-0) and Swarthmore (6-3, 6-0)...also took an 8-5 third doubles win against Swarthmore.

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Kara Courtney - Xavier
Sophomore, Newburg, IN/Reitz Memorial HS

Claimed four victories this past week...won at second singles against Southern Illinois (6-2, 6-3) and Rutgers (6-3, 6-4)...also earned first doubles wins against the two...is 3-1 on the year in singles play.

Freshman, Rotterdam, The Netherlands/Wolfert Tweetalig School

Earned a 6-0, 6-2 second singles win against Albany on Feb. 4...also captured an 8-0 first doubles win that day.
