Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards Announced

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Khyran Shank of Charlotte was named Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week, while Mara Olson of Butler garnered Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week. Charlotte's Chris Tate and Morgan Richards were named Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league for meets competed Feb. 4 - 10.

Shank, a junior, received Men's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week after competition this past weekend at the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson. The Indianapolis, Ind., native took first place out of 62 competitors in the 60m with a time of 6.77 seconds, extending his first place lead in A-10 standings. Shank also competed in the 200m, finishing second out of 71 student-athletes with a time of 21.95 seconds.

Olson, a sophomore, was named Women's Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week after a first place finish in the 3,000m run this past weekend at the Husky Classic, hosted by the University of Washington. The Minneapolis, Minn., native won the race with a time of 9:29.05, topping a field of 59 runners.

Tate garnered Men's Rookie of the Week after racing in the 400m at the Tiger Paw Invitational. The Bowie, Md., native finished in sixth place out of 82 runners with a time of 49.29, the leading time in the conference.

Richards received Women's Rookie of the Week after also competing at the Tiger Paw Invitational. The Hermitage, Pa., native finished first in the 3,000m run with a time of 10:13.12 and fourth in the one mile event with a time of 5:01.39.
