Rhode Island Men Leading the Way after Day One of A-10 Track & Field Championships

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The University of Rhode Island men's track and field team currently sits atop the standings after day one of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Track & Field Championships, held at Mackal Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Rhode Island. Rhode Island is leading the way with 52.5 points thanks to first-place finishes from junior Thaddeus Kusiak in the Weight Throw (62-10.00) and junior Johnathan Bartlett in the Pole Vault (14-09.00). The Rams also recorded second-place finishes from junior Ronald Woodley in the Long Jump (23-04.75) and junior William Janes in the Weight Throw (61-04.00). Following closely behind Rhode Island is Charlotte, with 34 points after day one. Leading the 49ers was senior Jake Wainwright, who placed first in the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 23-08.75. The teams currently trailing Rhode Island and Charlotte in the standing are Xavier (31), La Salle (17), Massachusetts (15), Saint Joseph's (14), Fordham (10.5), Richmond (10, Temple (7) and Saint Louis (4).
