Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards Announced

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – La Salle’s Nick Crits was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week, while Temple’s Margo Britton was named Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Week. Men’s Rookie of the Week honors went to Anthony Campbell of Charlotte, while Women’s Rookie of the Week honors went to Fordham’s Emma Cleary, as announced by the league Monday for meets competed in Nov. 26 – Dec. 2.

Senior Crits earned Men’s Performer of the Week accolades after winning the 3000m race at the Jack Pyrah Invitational with a time of 8:21.76. The Ambler, Pa., native finished the race nearly 28 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, while also coming close to breaking the meet record.

Britton, a sophomore, earned Women’s Performer of the Week honors after finishing first place in both the weight throw (14.42m) and shot put (14.17m) events at the Jack Pyrah Invitational. In addition to a pair of first place finishes, the York, Pa., native also threw an ECAC qualifying mark in the shot put competition.

Freshman Campbell garnered Men’s Rookie of the Week honors. The Washington, D.C., native took second place in the triple jump at the JDL College Kickoff, finishing with a mark of 14.42m.

Cleary earned Women’s Rookie of the Week accolades after competing in her first collegiate meet at the Manhattan College Opener. The Smithtown, N.Y., native finished second in the pole vault event with a mark of 10’4’’, tying Fordham’s school record set in 2009 by Maggie McGowan.
