PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Defending Atlantic 10 Conference men's outdoor track champion Rhode Island and 2007 runner-up Charlotte tied in voting by Conference coaches to capture the 2008 A-10 crown. On the women's side, defending champion Charlotte has been tabbed to defend its title.
For the men, Charlotte and Rhode Island shared the top spot in the voting, with La Salle forecasted for third and Duquesne fourth. URI has won a Conference-record six titles in the past seven years.
The Charlotte women have seized the Conference title in each of their first two seasons as members of the Atlantic 10. Richmond has been predicted to finish second, with four-time champion Rhode Island picked third and La Salle fourth.
The 2008 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 3-4 at the Athletic Track Facility on the campus of the University of Massachusetts.
