Atlantic 10 Weekly Outdoor Track and Field Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Rhode Island's Jacob Keeling and Charlotte's Joann Blakney were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday. Also recognized this week were Charlotte's Trey McRae and T'Sheila Mungo, who were named the Men's and Women's Rookies of the Week, respectively. Keeling recorded a first-place finish in the Javelin throw with a career best mark of 217' 5", which currently ranks 22nd in the NCAA East Region and 46th nationally. The Chepachet, R.I., native also recorded a second-place finish in the Shot Put with a career best distance of 58' 5.5", which currently ranks 43rd nationally. Keeling currently leads the Atlantic 10 Conference in both events. For the second consecutive week, Blakney bested her A-10 leading time in the 100-meters (11.52) en route to recording a first-place finish at this past weekend's Charlotte Invitational. Blakney was also member of the women's 4x100 relay (41.72) and 4x400 relay (3:38.71) teams that recorded first-place finishes. McRae finished first and set a new personal best in the High Jump with a mark of 6' 10.75"at the Charlotte Invitational. The Laurinburg, N.C., native's performance in the High Jump currently ranks third in Charlotte school history and second in the Atlantic 10 this season. He also recorded an eighth-place finish in the Long Jump with a distance of 22' 9". Mungo captured first-place in the Women's 400-meters with a time of 53.75. Mungo's time currently leads the Atlantic 10 Conference and ranks 50th nationally, along with ranking second in school history in the event.
