INDIANAPOLIS – Eleven Atlantic 10 Schools will be represented at the 2012 NCAA Preliminary Rounds the NCAA announced on Thursday. The preliminary championship competitions will be held May 24-26. The East region will be hosted by the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., and the West region will be hosted by the University of Texas in Austin, Texas.

Charlotte led the way with 13 athletes, seven men aand six women, collecting berths. Temple has seven selections and Rhode Island has six representatives at the preliminaries. Temple will be led by two-time Men’s Most Outstanding Track Performer, Travis Mahoney and Margo Britton, the 2012 A-10 Women’s Most Outstanding Rookie. Rhode Island’s Jacob Keeling, the 2012 A-10 Men’s Most Outstanding Field Performer, will lead the Rams.

La Salle will send five athletes, three men and two women, while Saint Louis will be represented by four athletes, including 2012 A-10 Women’s Most Outstanding Field Performer Brittney Cloudy. Duquesne will have three participants, while Fordham and Richmond will each have two qualifiers, including Richmond’s Nicol Traynor. Traynor was just named the 2012 A-10 Women’s Most Outstanding Track Performer.

Massachusetts, Saint Joseph’s and Xavier will each have one representative.

The qualifiers from each region will compete in the NCAA Championships held June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa.
