NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A total of six Atlantic 10 student-athletes qualified to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, June 6-9. Qualifiers were determined at this past weekend’s NCAA East and West Regionals held in Jacksonville, Fla., and Austin, Texas, respectively.
The Charlotte 49ers women's 4x100m relay team punched a ticket to the NCAA Finals. The group, composed of LaTrese Barker, Joann Blakney, Briauna Jones and Sirrell Butler, ran a time of 45.00 seconds to place 10th in the first round of regionals and qualify for finals. The 4x100 was the only Charlotte event to reach the NCAA Finals, running the eighth-fastest time in school history to qualify.
