Weekly Swimming and Diving Awards Announced

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington's Niklas Glenesk and Richmond's Mali Kobelja were named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Men's and Women's Performers of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Tuesday. Also honored this week was Massachusetts' Michael Glenn, who was named the Men's Rookie of the Week, and Richmond's Allison Titley, who was named the Women's Rookie of the Week. Glenesk, the junior from Austin, Texas, recorded first-place finishes in the 200-yd Freestyle (1:42.23), the 500-yd Freestyle (4:38.61) and in the 1,000-yd Freestyle (9:48.06) at this past weekend's Rhode Island Invitational. Glenesk also was a member of the 400-yd Freestyle Relay team that posted a second-place finish with a time of 3:10.70. Kobelja, the sophomore from Fort Wayne, Ind., turned in four top-three finishes in a strong four-team field, featuring Pittsburgh, Maryland and Villanova, this past weekend. Along with her four top-three finishes, Kobelja also set a new season best time in the 400 IM with a mark of 4:22.69. This is Kobelja's third Perfomer of the Week award this season. Glenn, the freshman from Overland Park, Kansas, recorded three top-three finishes this past weekend at the Rhode Island Invitational on way to earning his third Rookie of the Week award this season. Titley, the Richmond, Va. native, recorded a fourth-place finish in the 200 Fly with a time 2:06.14, and a sixth-place finish in the 100 Fly with a time of 58.38 at this past weekend's Pitt Quad Dual Meet.
