PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Xavier men's tennis team will be playing at No. 15 Illinois on May 9 in the first round of the 2008 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship as announced Tuesday afternoon on ESPNews. This is the first-ever team NCAA appearance for the Musketeers as XU earned the automatic bid after winning the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship. A-10 women's tennis champion Temple will visit eighth-seeded Duke on May 9 in the opening round in Durham, N.C.

Xavier is led by junior Doug Matthews, the 2008 Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year, as well as first-team All-Conference selections Ra'ees Ismail and Chris Herrlinger,
After capturing their first A-10 crown since 2003, Temple will square off against eighth-seeded Duke on May 9 in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship. The Owls will take on the Blue Devils at 10:00am at Duke's Ambler Tennis Stadium in Durham, N.C. Junior Dina Senkina was a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles at the Championship to lead Temple to its fourth-ever A-10 crown.
