Cross Country Academic All-Conference Teams Announced

Christina DeRosa and Jesse Regnier of Massachusetts have been named the Atlantic 10 Student-Athletes of the Year in men's and women's cross country, respectively, in voting conducted among the Conference's sports information directors.

DeRosa was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2007 Atlantic Championship on Oct. 27 at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa., after becoming just the fourth runner in program annals and first since Kristin Cisowski in 1998 to win the A-10 individual title, winning with a time of 18:27.0. A native of Sound Beach, N.Y., the three-time All-Conference selection finished in the top five in five of her six meets this season. In the classroom, DeRosa boasts a 3.48 grade point average as a kinesiology major. She is a member of the Academic All-Conference team for the second consecutive year.

Joining DeRosa on the women's cross country Academic All-Conference team are Emily Beahan and Samantha Howard of Duquesne, Andrea Florida of Saint Joseph's, La Salle's Carolyn Lipovsky and Shiyi Zan of Massachusetts. All six runners earned 2007 All-Conference honors after finishing in the top 15 at the A-10 Championship.

Regnier placed second for Massachusetts and 13th overall at the 2007 A-10 Championship in a time of 26:06.0 as the Minutemen tied for third in the 14-team field. The Hampden, Mass., resident finished seventh overall at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sept. 8 and came in 26th at the New England Championships on Oct. 6. Majoring in Environmental Design, he sports a 3.64 grade point average.

Regnier is joined on the men's cross country Academic All-Conference team by David Alfano and Ellis Wilson of La Salle, Richmond's Matt Llano and Jonathan Molz, Ben Milroy of Xavier and Duquesne's E.J. Robertson. Alfano, Llano, Moltz and Wilson joined Regnier in garnering 2007 All-Conference honors, while Robertson is a repeat selection to the Academic All-Conference team.
