NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Louis senior Grant Nelson its baseball Player of the Week, Butler’s Eric Stout Pitcher of the Week and Charlotte’s Sean Geoghegan Rookie of the Week.  The awards were announced Monday for games played during the week of March 4 - March 10.

Nelson hit .467 in five games last week for Saint Louis.   The senior catcher had a .619 on-base percentage and a .533 slugging percentage. In a 6-3 win over 2012 NCAA Regional participant San Diego, Nelson went two-for-three against All-American pitcher Michael Wagner.    Nelson had three multiple hit games for the Bills, reached base safely 13 times and scored six runs in the process.

Stout tossed a one hit, complete game shutout in Butler’s 1-0 victory over IPFW.  The sophomore southpaw struck out four batters en route to the 23rd one-hitter in Butler baseball history.   Stout allowed just four base runners - three walks - and struck out four. The only hit was a soft blooper that landed in center field in the top of the sixth. No IPFW base runner advanced to third base against Stout.

Geoghegan threw four scoreless innings in a pair of appearances against 2012 College World Series participant Kent State.   In a 5-4 win over the Golden Flashes, the lefty earned his first collegiate win, striking out four in three spotless innings.    He then struck out a pair of batters in one inning of work against KSU in the series finale.
