NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –   Charlotte’s Justin Seager has been named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Player of the Week, while La Salle’s Shawn O’Neil was named Pitcher of the Week and Fordham catcher Charles Galiano was named the league’s Rookie of the Week for games played March 11-17.

Seager had 10 hits in 16 at bats this week for a .625 average.   The left fielder registered a .727 on-base percentage after reaching safely in 15 of his 21 plate appearances.    Seager also scored seven runs and had five RBI for the 49ers.    Seager had at least  two hits in  three of Charlotte’s five games, including a pair of  three-hit games in  a sweep of Siena over the weekend.  The last of Seager’s three hits Friday night in the series opener was a walk-off double to drive in the winning run in the ninth.

O’Neil tossed a one hit complete game gem on Sunday against Chicago State.  The red-shirt lefty surrendered just a third inning single in a 7-0 Explorers win.   O’Neil went the distance, striking out 10, walking just two and facing just three batters over the minimum.

Galiano hit 588 (10-17) with six runs scored, four triples, and five RBI for the Rams.   Galiano posted a .619 on-base percentage with a 1.118 slugging percentage.  Galiano had three multi hits games during the week, including a 4-for-4 effort against NYIT.  Galiano was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two triples on Friday against NJIT and became the first Ram to have two triples in the same game since Kevin Brush in 2003 against Temple.
