CAMDEN, N.J. – Dayton (31-27) third baseman Jimmy Roesinger singled up the middle to score Bobby Glover for the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give the third-seeded Flyers the 1-0 victory over No. 4 Xavier (30-27) in the elimination game of the 2011 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championship, Wednesday night at Campbell’s Field in Camden, N.J.
“They came at me with three sliders," commented Roesinger. "The first one was right there, the second one I kind of got out of my shoes a little bit. After that I took a step back, took a deep breath and told myself to have fun. We have been working hard all season and it paid off for us at the right time”
In what proved to be a pitcher’s duel, both teams remained scoreless through 8.5 innings, before Xavier’s Brian Muransky surrendered the outing’s lone run. Muransky (3-4), who took the loss, provided the Musketeers with 8.2 solid innings of work with seven strikeouts, while the game’s winner, Cameron Hobson (5-6) hurled his third complete-game of the season and his second shutout, including 11 strikeouts and just one walk. Hobson became UD’s all-time career strikeouts leader with 245 and currently owns the single-season strikeout mark with 94 K’s set this spring.
will resume on Thursday, May 26, as top-seeded Charlotte squares off against No. 5 Richmond at 12:00PM, followed by No. 2 Rhode Island against No. 6 La Salle at 3:30PM. Live audio of both games will be available through the A-10’s official website – www. atlantic10.com
Dayton Head Coach Tony Vittorio On Hobson's performance...
“Obviously we are really proud of the way he pitched. He got in a slump in the middle of the year but has pitched very well the past three weekends. He brought his best today and It knida reminded me of his freshman year.”

On his performance...
“I just had everything going. Last couple weeks I have been really improving. Last week was my best outing of the year. I built off that and it all came together this week. I had my curve going really well today and that was a huge positive for me.”
