PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - St. Bonaventure senior Randy Moley has been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine First-Team Baseball Academic All-America, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Twice named the Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year in baseball and three-time academic All-Conference selection, Moley earned first-team All-Conference honors after guiding the Bonnies to their third consecutive appearance in the A-10 Championship. A native of Lancaster, N.Y., Moley leads the league in batting (.404) and on-base percentage (.494), ranks second in hits (84) and runs scored (61) and is third in steals (32) and RBI (56). He ends his career as the only player in program history to finish with over 200 hits, 125 runs scored, 100 RBI and 50 stolen bases. In the classroom, Moley boasts a 3.95 grade point average as a management sciences major and is a three-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first-team selection.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
