Rhode Island Notes:

  • Rhode Island is now 18-27 all-time in Atlantic 10 Championship play and fell to 3-12 in Opening Round contests.
  • Today's match-up with Charlotte was the first in Atlantic 10 Championship play. The Rams are now 2-5 all-time versus Charlotte and have lost two straight.
  • Junior Jimmy Baron reached the 20-point plateau for the sixth time this season, scoring a game-high 25 points.
  • Sophomore Keith Cothran registered a season-high five steals.
  • Head Coach Jim Baron falls to 9-17 all-time in Atlantic 10 Championship contests and 4-7 at Rhode Island.

    Charlotte Notes

  • Extended winning streak to four games with second straight victory over Rhode Island
  • Picked up their first ever Atlantic 10 Championship win to improve to 1-2 all-time in the conference postseason tournament
  • Will make its second A-10 Quarterfinals appearance and advance to play Massachusetts
  • Largest second half deficit overcome this season (nine points)
  • With 8 three-point field goals against the Rams, Charlotte extended its streak to 580 games with at least one triple
  • Improved to an even 6-6 in games decided by four points or less
  • Moved to 15-2 on the year when shooting better than 40 percent from the field
  • Tallied its eighth win of 2007-08 after trailing at the half
  • 18th game this season with at least 70 points
  • Senior Leemire Goldwire led the 49ers in scoring for the 19th time with his 27th double digit scoring effort and 13th contest of at least 20 points
  • Goldwire has knocked down a three-pointer in every game this year but three with 11 games with five or more triples
