Atlantic 10 Announces Men's Basketball Player And Rookie Of The Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Temple's Scootie Randall was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Saint Joseph's Langston Galloway was named Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday. Randall averaged 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in leading Temple to a perfect 2-0 week with wins over La Salle and Rhode Island. The junior forward opened the week scoring 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor, while adding three rebounds and three assists in the win at La Salle. Against Rhode Island, Randall scored 27 points, to tie a game-high, as the Philadelphia, Pa., native connected on his first eight shots from the floor, including a perfect 7-for-7 in the first half. Randall finished the week shooting 65.2 percent from the floor, 66.7 percent from three-point land and was 3-for-3 from the charity stripe. Galloway scored a career-high 25 points, helping the Hawks earn their first conference win of the year defeating Massachusetts 67-64 last Saturday. The freshman guard was 8-of-12 from the floor against the Minutemen including a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point territory. He added three assists and played all 40 minutes for the first time this year. Defensively, he held UMass' Anthony Gurley to just 10 points. Earlier in the week, Galloway had 11 points and nine rebounds in a loss on the road at Richmond. For the week, the Baton Rouge, La., native averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor and 7-for-11 (63.6%) from three-point range. Temple is back in action on Wednesday, February 9 as the Owls host Fordham at 7:00 p.m. Saint Joseph's will also hit the hardwood in its next game against Fordham on Sunday, February 13 in a game played at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
