NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Temple's Lavoy Allen was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Saint Joseph's Langston Galloway and Saint Louis' Dwayne Evans share Rookie of the Week accolades as announced by the league office on Monday.

Allen had a monster week as he averaged 18.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.5 assists as the Owls went 1-1 last week. The senior forward led the Owls in scoring and rebounding in both games en route to his seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season. Allen shot 55.6 percent from the floor including 80.0 percent from three-point territory and two-of-three from the charity stripe. Against No. 1 Duke in Durham, Allen hit a career-high three 3-pointers while his 13 rebounds were a game-high. On Sunday against George Washington, the Morrisville, Pa., native posted a season-high 16 rebounds and scored 17 of this 19 points after Temple trailed by as many as 12 against the Colonials at the 7:30 mark of the first half. In the win over GW, Allen recorded his 200th block of his career becoming just the fifth Temple player to reach that milestone.

Galloway averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Saint Joseph's. The freshman guard capped off the week scoring a career-high 27 points as the Hawks beat St. Bonaventure. Galloway was 8-for-13 from the field against the Bonnies including 5-for-7 from three-point range. He also committed just one turnover in 38 minutes of action. For the week, the Baton Rouge, La., native shot 43.5 percent (10-23) from the floor, 50.0 percent (6-12) from three-point land and was 7-for-8 (87.5%) from the free throw line. Galloway's 27 points against St. Bonaventure marked his seventh 20-plus point game of the year.

Evans led Saint Louis to a 2-0 week as he averaged 12.0 points and 13.5 rebounds. The freshman forward opened the week with his fifth double-double of the season as he registered 16 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Chicago State. He followed that performance with eight points and 10 rebounds in a win over Duquesne. Evans also collected three blocks in each of the Billikens' wins. For the week, the Bolingsbrook, Ill., native shot 50.0 percent (9-18) from the floor and 85.7 percent (6-7) from the charity stripe.

 

 

Temple returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, March 2 as the Owls travel to face Massachusetts at 7:00 p.m. Saint Louis and Saint Joseph's are also in action on Wednesday as the Billikens travel to face Dayton, while the Hawks host Richmond.
