Lasme Named To Collegeinsider.com Defensive All-America Team
March 27, 2007 Collegeinsider.com Defensive All-America Team PHILADELPHIA, PA - Massachusetts senior forward Stephane Lasme, the 2006-07 A-10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, has been named to the 21-player Collegeinsider.com Defensive All-America Team, it was announced on Tuesday. Lasme led the A-10 and ranks second nationally in blocks (5.09 bpg.), while his 168 blocked shots are the highest single-season total in Conference history. The Libreville, Gabon, native averaged a league-leading 9.5 rebounds per game, while his 17 double-digit rebounding performances was also tops in the A-10. This season, he joined Tony Dobbins of Richmond (2002-04) as the only players in league history to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors in successive seasons. He earned AP Honorable Mention All-America honors on Monday. Lase tied an NCAA record for triple-doubles in a season with four. As he accomplished them vs. St. Francis on Nov. 22 (19 pts, 10 reb, 11 blocks); vs. George Washington on Jan. 10 (23 pts, 15 reb, 11 blocks); vs. Rhode Island (18 pts, 12 reb, 11 blocks) on Feb. 8 and vs. La Salle on Feb. 28 (17 pts, 10 reb, 10 blocks). He joined Jason Kidd (Cal in 1994) and Michael Anderson (Drexel in 1986).
