Atlantic 10 Announces 2011-12 Men's Basketball Conference Schedule
A Total of 47 A-10 Head-to-Head Matchups Will Be Televised

The Atlantic 10 Conference released its 2011-12 men's basketball league schedule Tuesday. The schedule includes several marquee matchups, including 40 regular season conference games and seven A-10 Championship games that will be televised through agreements with CBS Sports and ESPN.

For the third straight year, CBS Sports will broadcast the Atlantic 10 title game as part of its Selection Sunday coverage. In addition, CBS Sports Network will air 12 regular season A-10 matchups and the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship.

CBS Sports Network will also produce and syndicate an additional 20 regular season games, including the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship. These games will air live in participating institutions television markets.

ESPN will carry eight conference matchups on either ESPN, ESPN 2 or ESPNU.

ESPN and CBS Sports Network will also carry a selection of non-conference games involving A-10 member institutions. These games, as well as any other locally broadcast games will be announced at a later date. This includes any games that will air on ESPN3, the online streaming arm of ESPN.

The conference schedule opens with five games on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 with La Salle hosting Xavier, Richmond traveling to Charlotte, George Washington at St. Bonaventure, Dayton hosting Saint Louis and Saint Joseph's at Duquesne. Each of the league's 14 teams will play every Atlantic 10 opponent once and three teams twice for a total of 16 conference matchups.

Marquee matchups include the rematch of the 2011 title game between Richmond and Dayton. The two teams meet just once, at the end of the regular season on Wednesday, Feb. 29 in Richmond. Temple and Richmond, the last two conference champions will also meet only once, squaring off on Saturday, Jan. 14 at UR's Robins Center. There will also be just one regular season meeting between the only two returning First Team All-Conference selections. St. Bonaventure's Andrew Nicholson will lead his team into Xavier to face Tu Holloway. That game will also be played on Saturday, Jan. 14. Traditional powers Xavier and Temple will meet up on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Temple's Liacouras Center.

At the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday, March 3, the top 12 teams will advance to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship. First round games will be played on Tuesday, March 6, 2011, on the campuses of the higher seeded teams (#5, #6, #7 and #8). The winners of those opening round games will advance to Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. for the quarterfinal round on Friday, March 9. Semifinal games will be played on Saturday, March 10 and the finals on NCAA Selection Sunday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m., which will air live on CBS Sports.
