NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Richmond's Kevin Anderson and Saint Joseph's Langston Galloway were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Anderson averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in leading Richmond to a perfect 3-0 week. The senior guard was named MVP of the Chicago Invitational after scoring a season-high 28 points as the Spiders upset No. 8 Purdue 65-54 to claim the tournament title. The win was Richmond's fifth in the last six games against a ranked foe. Anderson now has 30 career 20-point games and has reached double-figures in scoring 90 times in his four-year career at Richmond.

The Atlanta, Ga., native opened the week with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes of action as Richmond defeated Southern. Anderson followed that performance with a 15-point, five assist effort in a semifinal victory over Wright State in the Chicago Invitational. For the week, Anderson shot .436 from the floor and .429 from three-point range. He also put together a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio.

Galloway scored in double-figures in back-to-back games as Saint Joseph's posted a perfect week to up the Hawks' win streak to three straight en route to claiming the Philly Hoop Group Classic title. The freshman guard shot 82.3 (14-17) percent from the floor, 83.3 (5-6) percent from three-point range and was perfect from the free throw line in both attempts to finish the week averaging 17.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

The Baton Rouge, La., native scored a season-best 20 points on 7-for-8 shooting as Saint Joseph's defeated Rutgers to win the Philly Hoop Group Classic title. In 31 minutes of action against the Knights, Galloway also turned in a game-high eight assists while committing just one turnover. In a road victory at Fairfield, Galloway led the Hawks with 15 points connecting on seven of nine shots from the floor. He also collected five rebounds, three blocks and two steals.

 

 

Richmond returns to action at Old Dominion on Wednesday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. (EST), while Saint Joseph's travels to face Drexel on Wednesday in a game shown live on The Comcast Network at 7:00 p.m.
