NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Butler sophomore Roosevelt Jones its men’s basketball Player of the Week and Duquesne freshman Derrick Colter its Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday for games played during the week of Dec. 10-16.

Jones, a 6-4 forward, recorded his fifth career double-double and was closing in on a rare triple-double when he fouled out late in regulation play in Butler’s 88-86 overtime win against No. 1 Indiana.  He finished with 16 points, a game-high 12 rebounds, a game-high seven assists and two blocked shots earning “the best player on the floor” accolades from Bulldog coach Brad Stevens. Colter averaged 14.0 points and 6.5 assists in a split week for the Dukes. The guard scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half to help Duquesne come back from a 15-point deficit to defeat West Virginia, 60-56. He converted back-to-back layups and handed out his seventh assist in the final 2:02 to turn a 53-53 tie into a six-point DU lead. The Forestville, Md., native also had two steals and five rebounds against the Mountaineers. He followed that with a team high 16 points and six assists at cross-town rival Robert Morris.
