NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Temple senior Khalif Wyatt its men's basketball Player of the Week and Duquesne freshman Derrick Colter its Rookie of the Week. The awards were announced Monday for games played during the week of Dec. 17-24.

Wyatt, who has also received NBC Sports' Player of the Week honors, capped a high-scoring week with a career-high 33 points in Temple's win over No. 3 Syracuse. A Norristown, Pa., native, Wyatt averaged 23.3 points in leading the Owls to a 2-1 week, including the Saturday win over the Orange. He scored 20 of his 33 points in the first half against Syracuse to keep Temple in the game. He also had 17 points versus Canisius and 20 in a win over Alcorn State. He missed just two free throws all week, finishing at .933 (28-30) from the line, including a perfect 15-of-15 at the line against Syracuse. The guard dished out four assists versus the Orange to add to his weekly total of seven. For the week he was 19-of-44 (.432) from the field and tallied 10 total rebounds.

Colter won his second straight Rookie of the Week award by averaging 25.0 points per game to lead Duquesne to a 1-1 week. The Forestville, Md., native went 9-of-17 from the floor with four 3-pointers in scoring a career-high 25 points in a win over Western Michigan. He collected six rebounds and three assists against the Broncos. The freshman guard then matched that total with 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting at Louisiana-Lafayette. Colter averaged 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game and shot .586 (17-29) from the field and .467 (7-15) from the 3-point arc.

Dayton freshman Dyshawn Pierre averaged seven points in UD's two games and scored 14 points against Illinois State ... Fordham's Branden Frazier tallied a career-high 26 points at UConn and a career-high ten assists versus Siena and registered his first career double-double against the Saints ... GW's Dwayne Smith scored a season-high 18 points in just 12 minutes off the bench in Saturday's 76-67 victory over VMI. Smith made 8-of-11 field goals and is now averaging 13.3 points over his last three games ... Ramon Galloway led La Salle to 2-0 week by averaging 21.5 points and tying his career high with 10 assists versus Iona ... Jesse Morgan led UMass to a pair of home wins with a pair of 4-plus 3-pointer performances, including a career-high seven treys en route to a career-high 35 points in the win over Ohio ... Rhode Island's Nikola Malesevic scored 22 points, had nine rebounds, and sealed the victory over Georgia State with a blocked shot and two free throws ... Mike McCall, Jr. helped Saint Louis to two wins last week, averaging 13.5 points per game on 7-of-12 from 3-point range as the Bills improved winning streak to five.
