Jones, Dunham, Winters Win A-10 Men's Basketball Weekly Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has named Saint Joseph's senior Carl Jones its men's basketball Player of the Week and freshman Kellen Dunham of Butler and Quevyn Winters from Duquesne its Co-Rookies of the Week. The awards were announced Monday for games played during the week of Dec. 24-30. Jones scored a season-high 32 points, with 17 in the first half, as Hawks snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Iona. The senior guard tied career-high for field goals made (12) and steals (4) to help him rebounded from a 3-point performance in a pre-Christmas game versus Fairfield. A native of Garfield Heights, Ohio, Jones surpassed 1,500 points in his career making him one of 16 Hawks to surpass that number. He also moved into 10th place on SJU's list for career three-pointers with 172. Dunham, a guard, came off the bench with 12 points, two rebounds and two assists to help Butler defeat Vanderbilt, 68-49. The Pendleton, Ind., native scored 10 of his points in the second half, while helping Butler pull away to the 19-point win. He finished as the game's second-leading scorer in a key reserve role to claim his third Rookie of the Week honors this season. Winters scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting in Duquesne's 84-74 loss at Penn State. The Milwaukee, Wisc., native hit two 3-pointers and added four rebounds in just 26 minutes of action. His 3-pointer with 56 seconds left capped a late rally that cut a 22-point PSU lead (with 9:52 remaining) to five. A-10 Weekly Honor Roll Rotnei Clarke scored 22 points, with six of his seven field goals coming from long range to lift Butler to its seventh consecutive win, a 68-49 victory over Vanderbilt ... Devin Oliver turned in his league-leading sixth double-digit rebounding effort in Dayton's overtime loss to Southern Cal, scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort ... GW's Lasan Kromah nearly posted his first double-double of the season with 10 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes as GW routed Sacred Heart 77-38 ... Freshman Joe McDonald had eight points, seven rebounds and game-highs of four assists and four steals in that same Colonials win ... Ramon Galloway tied a career-high with six three-pointers in leading La Salle 22 points in 80-52 win at Siena ... Maxie Esho netted a season-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting, including a career-high five dunks in the win at Northern Illinois, helping UMass extend its winning streak to five games overall and five on the road ... Mike McCall, Jr. led Saint Louis in scoring for third straight game, tallying 16 points in the Billikens win over SIU Edwardsville ... VCU's Troy Daniels set a school record for three-pointers with nine in a win over Fairleigh-Dickinson, moving him into sixth place on VCU's all-time three-pointers made list (177) and giving the senior a career-high 27 points.
