Three A-10 Golfers Qualify for 2008 U.S. Amateur Championship

8/6/2008 - The Atlantic 10 will be represented well at the upcoming U.S. Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Golf Course in North Carolina beginning Aug. 18. Senior Rob Chappell and sophomore Zach Glassman of Dayton, as well as Charlotte's Corey Nagy, each qualified for the 2008 U.S. Amateur Championship after successful showings in sectional qualifiers.

Chappell earned Dayton's first-ever individual medalist honor shooting an 11-under (64-73-68) at the Atlantic 10 Championship on May 2-4... Chappell's 205 total score helped the Flyers secure a second place finish at the Championship, the best in the program's history...second career tournament win...in round three, Chappell bounced back after a bogey on his first hole to net five birdies in the remaining 17 holes...marks the third consecutive time that a player shot a 68 on the final day of play to merit top honors.

Woeste tied for eighth overall thanks to a final round of 68 at the Atlantic 10 Championship on May 2-4...he carded scores of 70 and 76 in the first two rounds and netted a birdie and an eagle on holes eight and 10...after recording back-to-back bogeys on 11 and 12, Woeste recovered to birdie three of his last five holes...Woeste is just the fifth UD golfer to place in the top ten at the A-10 Championship.

Green earned his third-straight Coach of the Year honor after Charlotte captured its third title in three years at the Atlantic 10 Championship on May 2-4...with the win, the 49ers earned their fourth straight NCAA Tournament bid...Charlotte shot a three-under par 285 to finish at -27, 837, and top runner-up Dayton by 23 strokes.
