NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—The Atlantic 10 has named Charlotte senior Olafur Loftsson the league’s Golfer of the Week and his freshman teammate Raoul Menard the Golf Rookie of the Week the league announced Thursday. The awards were presented for events played March 29-April 4.                                      

Loftsson led the 49ers to a fourth-place finish at Irish Creek with a seven-under par, 206.  The Gardabaer, Iceland native shot par or better in each of the three rounds, including a four-under par 67 in round two and a final round of three-under par 68.  The 206 is his career-best and the sixth-place finish matches his best finish of the season.

Menard, a Ange-Gardier, Quebec City, Canada native rebounded from an opening round of 78 to shot back-to-back under par rounds – carding a one-under 70 and two-under par 69 to help Charlotte to a fourth-place finish in the 13-team Irish Creek event.
