Eleven A-10 Student-Athletes Named Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Charlotte senior Jonas Enander Hedin, the 2008 Atlantic 10 Golf Student-Athlete of the Year, is one of eleven student-athletes from the Conference recognized as a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar.

A third-team Ping All-America selection, Enander Hedin was one of five finalists for the Byron Nelson Award (top college senior) and was among the top 20 finalists for the Hogan and Nicklaus National Player of the Year Awards. The Taby, Sweden, resident is a three-time All-Conference selection after finishing third in this year's A-10 Championship.

Joining Enander Hedin as a Cleveland Gold All-America scholar are teammates Andrew DiBitetto and Stefan Wiedergruen, Paul Amess of Temple, Xavier's Michael Beausejour, Conor McMahon and Tim Johnson of George Washington, St. Bonaventure's Brennan Payne and Ryan Swanson, Mark Stevens of Rhode Island and Richmond's Jordan Utley. Amess and Enander Hedin garnered ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large Second Team honors and were joined on the A-10 Golf Academic All-Conference team by Payne, Utley and Wiedergruen.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
