NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Matt Buse was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Golfer of the Week, while Temple’s Brandon Matthews earned his third straight Rookie of the Week citation. The duo was honored for tournaments played during the week of Sept. 27 – Oct. 2.

Buse tied for fourth among 83 golfers after shooting a 2-under par 70 (70-68-70-208) in the final round of the Cobra-PUMA Invitational at the Miromar Lakes Golf Club. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native fired a career-best 68 during the second round en route to his sixth career top 10 finish.

Matthews, who earned both of the league’s awards last week, paced Temple and tied for 15th among the 75 participants with his 2-over par 142 (70-72) at Yale’s Macdonald Cup in New Haven Conn. The DuPont, Pa., native opened the 6,749-yard layout with an even par 70, before firing  72 over the final 18 holes.

2013 A-10 GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
For the second-straight year, the 13-team Atlantic 10 Conference Golf Championship will be held April 26-28 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. The par 72 course will play at 7,055 yards for the three-day tournament.
