Mark Ingvaldsen Named A-10 Coordinator of Soccer Officials
April 27, 2012
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced today the hiring of Mark Ingvaldsen as the league’s Coordinator of Officials for both men’s and women’s soccer. Ingvaldsen replaces Nick Cinquanto, who passed away earlier this year. Cinquanto served as the Conference's Coordinator of Soccer and Softball Officials and as a women's basketball officials observer. Ingvaldsen will be responsible for the Atlantic 10’s men’s and women’s soccer officiating programs, including training, developing and recruiting for the conference roster. He will oversee all of the A-10’s officiating assignments for both non-conference and conference play, while also facilitating all regular season and postseason evaluations. “We are thrilled to welcome Mark into the A-10 family,” stated Associate Commissioner Debbie Richardson. “He brings a wealth of soccer experience and knowledge to the Conference.” Ingvaldsen, who brings nearly 30 years of intercollegiate soccer experience to the Atlantic 10, is familiar with the league, having previously served as a regional assignor for A-10 games. Moreover, he has worked as soccer official since 1985, refereeing games for 20 years before retiring to serve as an assignor. Ingvaldsen has also assisted the NCAA with Tournament assignments since 2006. "I accept this appointment with great excitement,” explained Ingvaldsen. “I look forward to being a part of the Atlantic 10 Conference and continuing to build relationships with the coaches and officials in the league’s geographic footprint.” Ingvaldsen, a member of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) since 1996, is a certified United States Soccer Federation and NISOA referee. Recently, he was instrumental in securing and organizing one of nine National Referee Academy Clinics in the country, to be held this summer in Fredericksburg, Va.
In addition to working as a soccer official, Ingvaldsen, a native of Salem, Va., has been affiliated with the Roanoke City Fire/EMS since 1987 and was promoted to Captain in 2001. |
