A-10 MEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY NOTEBOOK NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - VCU's Jason Johnson and Dayton's Chris Froschauer were named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday. Both student-athletes were honored for games played during the week of Sep. 4-9. Johnson paced VCU to a pair of convincing wins over Winthrop (3-0) and Seton Hall (5-1) last weekend, scoring three goals for six points. The Saint Mary, Jamaica, resident scored his second goal of the season against Winthrop (Sep. 7) off a penalty kick in the 84th minute, before adding two more goals against Big East foe Seton Hall on Sunday (Sep. 9). For his efforts, Johnson was also named to the Stihl Classic All-Tournament Team. Froschauer made eight saves in Dayton's 4-1 win over EIU on Sunday (Sep. 9). The Union, Ky., native's lone goal against the Panthers came on a well-placed header off of a set piece early in the match. Froschauer faced nine shots on goal, as the Flyer backfield defended against 19 total shots.
