Three A-10 Soccer Squads Listed Among Nation's Best

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Charlotte, Dayton and Xavier are listed among the nation’s top teams in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Poll. The 49ers are ranked fifth and the Musketeers are No. 24, while the Flyers received eight votes.

Charlotte (4-0-1) recorded two shutouts victories to claim the University of Kentucky Invitational last weekend, Sep. 7-9. The 49ers limited Stony Brook to four shots and one corner kick in a 3-0 Charlotte win, before recording their third shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over Kentucky. Aidan Kirkbride and Jennings Rex lead the 49ers in goals with two apiece. The 49ers have only allowed two goals and 32 shots with three shutouts in over 494 minutes of action this year.

Dayton is off to its best start since 2003 when it also began the season 4-1. In addition, the Flyers are ranked in the Top 10 nationally in several categories including scoring offense (T8th – 2.80 GPG), team goals (T9th – 14) and total points (T9th-41). Freshman goalkeeper Chris Froschauer is tied for second nationally in saves with 35 on the year.

The Musketeers (4-0-1) jumped from the 33rd spot and receiving votes to the No. 24 spot following victories over IUPUI and Milwaukee. The position is the second highest NSCAA rank in program history. Xavier was ranked No. 23 last October after its 6-1-1 start.
