Sept. 17, 2012 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Dayton’s Abe Keller and Temple’s Jared Martinelli have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Soccer Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday. Both student-athletes were honored for games played during the week of Sept. 10-16. Keller scored the game-winner in UD’s 2-1 overtime win against Gardner-Webb (Sept. 14) and also had an assist. On Sept. 16, he tallied two assists, both coming off of corner kicks against the IPFW Mastodons. Keller has compiled 10 points over the last three games. RV/No. 23 Dayton is unbeaten on Baujan Field since Oct. 9, 2011 and is 6-1 overall this season. Martinelli registered six points on the week, including one goal and three assists as Temple picked up its first victory of the season against Manhattan on Sept. 11. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native was the helper on a first half tally against the Jaspers, before providing the Owls’ with the game-winning assist later in the opening session. During Temple’s west-coast swing, Martinelli recorded an assist at Cal Poly on Sept. 14 and posted TU’s lone goal at Cal State Northridge on Sept. 16, as the rookie midfielder found the back of the net in the 89th minute for his first collegiate goal. 2012 A-10 MEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP
